Left atrial myxoma impaction of the left ventricle inflow tract.

چکیده
A 77-year-old woman with chronic atrial fibrillation underwent a routine transthoracic echocardiography that showed a left atrial myxoma. The patient underwent surgery by means of miniinvasive right thoracotomy in fourth intercostal space. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography showed a dangerous obstruction of the left ventricle inflow as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. The obstruction of flow through the mitral valve can induce pulmonary hypertension and clinical signs of congestive heart failure. Despite the fact that up to 95 % of patients can present symptoms related to obstruction of blood flow across the atrio-ventricular valve, the only symptom in our patient was palpitation correlated to the existing atrial arrhythmia.

Prolapsing right atrial myxoma: clinical and heamodynamic considerations.
A 22-year-old woman with a right atrial myxoma prolapsing to the right ventricle is described. The haemodynamic findings were similar to those of cases of prolapsing myxoma of the left atrium; a notching on the ascending limb of the right ventricular pressure curve, and an initial negative, irregular deflection on the pulmonary artery pressure curve with a pronounced rise in the mean right atri...
متن کاملCardiac arrest reveals a mobile large left atrial myxoma
Left atrial myxoma could be a rare cause of cardiac arrest as this mass could impinge on the mitral orifice causing left ventricular inflow tract obstruction.
متن کاملLeft Atrial Myxoma: A Rare Tumor in a Child
Atrial myxomas are uncommon in the pediatric population but are very important due to pursuant atrioventricular valve obstruction and systemic embolic events. Concerning multiple symptoms ranging from congestive heart failure to neurological deficits, the diagnosis of this disease is complicated. This paper reports a case of left atrium myxoma in a child treated with a surgical excision o...
متن کاملFour cardiac myxomas diagnosed three times in one patient.
A left atrial myxoma was surgically removed in a 58-year-old man following several embolic events. Five months later, a new myxoma was found in the right ventricular outflow tract and surgically removed. In this patient, we visualized two more recurrences 14 years later, one in the left atrium and the other in the left ventricle. A short review of the literature concerning recurrent cardiac myx...
متن کاملGiant Left Atrial Myxoma Causing Mitral Valve Obstruction and Concomitant Coronary Artery Disease
We describe a 56-year old male patient who presented with congestive heart failure and had undergone echocardiography that showed a mobile, giant left atrial mass which caused obstruction in the left ventricular outflow tract. The patient underwent a coronary angiography before operation that showed severe stenosis in the left anterior descending and circumflex artery. The patient underwent res...
